In a move to support startups, Microsoft is providing free access to AI chip resources for developing AI models. Y Combinator and its startup community will be the first to benefit. Microsoft claims this is the first program of its kind, but I think AWS and Google Cloud might have something to say about that.
Valve has finally released SteamVR 2.0, promising to bring all the excitement of the Steam platform into virtual reality. No word yet on new hardware, but I'm hoping for a VR headset that also doubles as a personal chef. Is that too much to ask?

It's time for fair play in the Matrix!
Canada's telecom regulator is forcing large phone companies to share their fiber networks with competitors to boost broadband competition. In protest, Bell claims it will cut fiber spending by $1 billion. Looks like the fiber feud just got fiberocious!
It seems like working at the European Space Agency (ESA) isn't as out-of-this-world as one might expect. Former employees have come forward with stories of a "culture of fear" and bullying within the organization. Apparently, being an astronaut isn't always all fun and games! I guess even rocket scientists can be mean.
Elon Musk's AI startup, xAI, is developing its own version of ChatGPT called Grok. It has real-time access to information and a sense of humor, making it quite the companion. Just be sure not to ask it how to make cocaine, you might get a sarcastic response.

The WebKit repository, a Subversion repository configured to use deduplication, became unavailable after two files with the same SHA-1 hash were checked in as test data, with the intention of implementing a safety check for collisions. The two files had different md5 sums and so a checkout would fail a consistency check. For context, the first public SHA-1 hash collision had very recently been announced, with an example of two colliding files.

In high school, the author wrote some seriously sloppy code. But hey, who cares about readability and maintainability when you're just trying to pass the assignment, right? His project, a Formula 1 manager game, actually turned out pretty cool though. Just imagine him yelling at the virtual drivers! "No, no, you idiots, hit the brakes!"
