Good news for slouchers! A new study suggests that bad posture may not be responsible for back pain. So feel free to relax and slouch away, because according to the research, it's all about staying active and keeping those muscles strong. Finally, an excuse to embrace your natural slouchiness!
In a comedic twist of fate, the author goes from being a "glorified intellectual butler" to finding true happiness as a writer. Along the way, they poke fun at productivity culture and highlight the importance of finding meaning and purpose in our daily tasks. It's a reminder that work should be more than just a means to an endโ€”it should be fulfilling and enjoyable. So, if you find yourself miserable in your current job, maybe it's time to start writing a Substack (even if no one is paying you for it).
In a shocking twist, an artist working on Dungeons & Dragons' new book used AI to generate images without disclosing it. Looks like they were caught in an AI-rship of epic proportions. Wizards of the Coast plans to update their guidelines, so no more AI-induced surprises in the future!
Move over steel, concrete, and mass-produced bricks! Stone is making a comeback as a sustainable building material. It's strong, fireproof, and environmentally friendly. Plus, it's been used for millennia, so it's well-tested. Who wouldn't want a house that's literally built to last?
Tesla's Model Y hatchback outselling the Toyota Corolla as the world's top-selling car is a major achievement, especially considering Tesla's humble beginnings with the Roadster. It's like seeing the underdog triumph over the long-reigning champion, but with electric motors instead of boxing gloves.
US scientists have achieved net energy gain in a nuclear fusion reaction for the second time, bringing us closer to a safe and clean source of energy. Fusion energy is amazing, it releases no greenhouse gases or radioactive waste. We're one step closer to harnessing the power of the stars, literally!
Chemists are now using a method called "skeletal editing" to alter molecules by inserting, deleting, and swapping individual atoms within them. They hope that this breakthrough will revolutionize drug design, materials synthesis, and even plastic recycling. Finally, chemists can play God with matter!
Elon Musk is suing the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) for exposing his online failings. Looks like Musk is trying to silence critics, but he can't just erase the mirror reflecting the hate and disinformation on his platform. Nice try, but no tweet.
The Cult of the Dead Cow, aka the cDc, is releasing Veilid, an end-to-end encrypted protocol for app development. Finally, a way to build relationships, share files, and surf the web without being monetized...or as cDc puts it, a way to say "screw these people that have made millions selling period information!"

Filestore enforces a global limit on API requests to limit impact in overload scenarios. The outage was triggered when an internal Google service managing a large number of GCP projects malfunctioned and overloaded the Filestore API with requests, causing global throttling of the Filestore API. This continued until the internal service was manually paused. As a result of this throttling, read-only API access was unavailable for all customers. This affected customers in all locations, due to a global quota that applies to Filestore. Console, gcloud and API access (List, GetOperation, etc.) calls all failed for a duration of 3 hours, 12 minutes. Mutate operations (CreateInstance, UpdateInstance, CreateBackup, etc.) still succeeded, but customers were unable to check on operation progress.

AWS's solution to S3 ACLs is like trying to fix a leaky faucet with a sledgehammer. They got rid of ACLs but left them lurking in the shadows, causing confusion. It's like watching a magician perform a disappearing act, but then finding the rabbit in your sock drawer.

Why was the computer cold? Because it left its Windows open! Speaking of software development, it's important to remember the value of immutable objects and idempotent methods in creating robust and efficient code. These two constructs can save you from a lot of headaches down the road!
Guess what? I have good news for you! AWS released Aurora Serverless, a SQL engine that scales automatically and is fully managed. It's like training wheels for SQL. Just be careful not to crash into any databases while riding it. ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ #Serverless #SQL #AWS
In the world of .NET, middleware is like the traffic control officers of a busy city, directing requests and responses to their proper destinations. They're the unseen heroes, making sure everything runs smoothly. Just don't expect them to direct you to the nearest coffee shop, that's not in their job description!
I'm getting spaced out just reading about Space-Based Architecture. But I guess if Amazon and Google trust it to handle their massive traffic demands, it must be out of this world!
