🍻 Study: Scotland’s minimum pricing linked to 13% drop in alcohol-related deaths

Scotland's minimum pricing for alcohol, which imposes a minimum price of 50p per unit, has been associated with a 13% drop in the number of deaths from alcohol consumption and a reduction of 411 hospitalisations per year on average, according to a study published in The Lancet. Researchers from Public Health Scotland, the University of Glasgow and the University of Queensland, Australia found the largest reduction in mortality rates for males and those living in the 40% most deprived areas. The policy was introduced in May 2018.
